This is a great screen saver that keeps the five key values of church planting movements before you. Its great to look at and a wonderful reminder of values that build the church. When making it I used the 5 key values of church planting from the Greater Europe Mission evangelism and church planting manual.

A few years back I got in the habit of taking public domain Christian books and putting them into Logos Bible Software’s note format. I know, sounds a bit odd. In any case, if have Logos or Libronix as it called today then (more)

Windows [prayer] Wallpaper See what there is here. One of my occasional hobbies is photography…that is now that I have a digital camera. So, I have included some pictures I have taken in our travels around Spain here as wallpaper for windows. They come in two sizes, 1024×768 and 800×600. These are a great way to take different look at Spain…and a way to remember to pray for the country.————————————————

PowerPoint and Reading the Biblical Text
Download (4 mega byte file) Flash Preview here
Reading long sections from the Bible during a worship service can sometimes loose an audience. Here is an illustration of what can be done to make the text a little more visual. The first couple of slides were an introduction to the reading of 2 Chronicles 14-15. The idea for this presentation came from Jeff Jansen a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators serving in Africa.

Here is an English example of how to use PowerPoint in Sermons. It uses some of the techniques described in “How to use PowerPoint in Sermons” but does it in English. This is the first two thirds of one of my sermons on 2 Thessalonians 3:1.

Good Post. Sometimes we get so caught up in the mechanics of our faith, that we start to think any deviation from those mechanics must not be “real” faith. Whether it’s the style of dress, style of worship, music, prayer, meeting structure, language, culture, convictions, we look at the outside image and not the root of faith–JESUS. Thanks for pointing out the validity of diversity with the Body of Christ.
Great post!
Very intriguing post!
I hope you all had great holidays! We continue to remember you in our prayers,
love,
Charlie
i fully agree with that we inevitably not only have but need structures and that the consequent question is about the nature of those structures. keep in mind though that it is a two-way road: people do create structures (by their giftings if you wish), but also do structures create people (by creating/ limiting spaces for exercising “roles” to be filled by biographic identies). so there might be times to start with the people and others to start with structures for people to grow into. just thinking along. cheers
i confirm your most important observation about germans: i, too, would love to drive Audi A4, even better Audi TT

good one! Judi and I loved it and had a good laugh!
Curious. What about John’s post resonated with you enough to post on your blog? Could you elaborate?
one more nice topic in your blog and nice comments too keep it up, If you advise some more related links to topic. I’m very interested in CMS and all its related subjects.
Thanks for the post and the tweets.
ditto.
You are so right, Paul! Slow to speak, slow to anger – absolutely, but not don’t speak or don’t get angry. Anger can sometimes be good – but only as a last resort – patience comes first. Thing is not to sin when we are angry (Ephesians 4:26). I know all this – but why do I fly off the handle so easily in some situations? :S
I am a Missionary to the USA, I am wondering if I can get my hands on 100 Bibles, at no cost to me. (So I can pass them out) It is getting harder to find anything free since the recession kicked in and people began closing their wallets.
I discovered your blog. Awesome man. Keep up the good work. Very cultured. Visit my blog at: http://www.GershomsBibleblog.blogspot.com/
Thanks David. I popped over to your blog as well. Looks nice.
Hi David, The US. could use some missionaries
If you are interested in getting some Bibles from Logos you can drop them a note. Just go to their site at http://www.logos.com. But they are mainly electronic Bibles.
very mind provocative… Met with our tech staff and had them watch it. More work, more changes, hopefully a gospel more effectively spread.
Thanks Paul
That is great Charlie. It’s a helpful video. I was shocked at some of the comparisons.
Just to let you know, the KLV of the Bible, made by Mr Klingon, isn’t a translation. It’s simply the output from a computer program that did a massive “find and replace” on the English text. As you can see from your sample image, there are a bunch of “the”s that didn’t get replaced because Klingon doesn’t have an article that takes the place of “the”.
This work doesn’t preserve the original meaning of the text. As an example the first sentence you have means:
Daq the tagh ghaHta’ the mu’
It begins place’s the, he accomplishes being him, The’s word
Qurgh, Thanks for the clarification. Its appreciated. I’ve been a fan of StarTrek since the first episode through to today.
well, that’s as may be… but according to my linguistics prof, there’s actually a group of people that banded together to make a colony that speaks only clingon… and are/were raising children that speake it as their native language.
That is pretty amazing. Here is a link to the fellow who created the Klingon Language: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Okrand Pretty interesting work done by a linguist.
Awesome… love Brian Regan. Nicki and I saw him live on Valentines Day–after taking a ride in our lunar rover…
That’s crazy, I know some people who will love that, I’m sending it to them now!
haha, dad, you’re dislexic. you can delete this after, if you want, but

is “H.L.E.P.”
did you re-organize the words or something?
also, for the record, no that is NOT all that I got out of this post. =)
Thanks for the laugh this morning Kate. I did not even notice. I think your mom actually read it as well and did not notice.
In what language would H.E.L.P. be an acceptable word order?
Been there, done that, no wait, am there now doing that…does this process ever really end?
